Money and Happiness

1、The topic about money and happiness has been discussed for a long time. And at present, it is still popular among people at different ages. After listening to the lecture, I firmly believe that our happiness is almost based on money. I can't imagine how happy they are if people are subjected to starvation, hypothermia and illness just because of lacking money.

2、Some people hold the view that there are many things related to happiness except for money. Yes, it is really true. Marriage, satisfaction with family life and religion can also play parts in our happiness. However, according to a survey, average happiness or satisfaction levels are higher in rich countries than those in poor countries. In fact, money is not just money. Money is a symbol of successful career, accomplishment and capability. What's more, money can bring satisfaction to life. People who are unemployed and in poor health are much less happy.

3、According to Pew Research Center Survey, 34% of Americans are reported being very happy, and 50% are those with income over $150.000. Among those with family incomes under $20.000 per year, only 23% are “very happy". Therefore, we can conclude that money is not everything, but it must be something.

4、I have heard that marriage without money as a base will not last. I couldn't agree more. If a couple often worry about food and clothes, argument will come sooner or later, so money is the base for happy marriage. Love is not only about rose, but also about salt, rice and so on. If you are still alive, you must need to rely on money. But I don't mean that the more money you own, the happier you will be. Many people run after higher income, at the same time, they lose their happy family. I don't consider that they are happier than those who have happy family life and enough money for living happily.

5、Money is not happiness, but happiness is something about money.
